Open evening – spinning & weaving together
Come by for a relaxed evening of spinning, weaving and band weaving.
This is not a workshop, but an open evening where you can work on your own project and learn from each other. There is space to ask questions, exchange ideas and explore different techniques.
Suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced makers.

– Free (including coffee and tea)
Practical:
– Bring your own project (for example a spinning wheel, spindle or loom)
– You can also try spinning wheels and materials from the showroom

Workshop spinning – flax
In this workshop you learn how to spin flax.
You work with a historic flax braid and learn how to spin different fibre lengths, including long flax, medium flax and tow. You also learn how to prepare and use a distaff.
Suitable for participants with interest in traditional techniques.

Workshop spinning – flax
In this workshop you learn how to spin flax.
You work with a historic flax braid and learn how to spin different fibre lengths, including long flax, medium flax and tow. You also learn how to prepare and use a distaff.

Workshop spinning – beginners
In this workshop you learn how to spin wool.
You start with a hand spindle as an introduction, then continue on a spinning wheel. You learn to spin, ply your yarn and take home your first handspun wool.
Suitable for beginners.

Workshop band weaving – tablet (fundamentals)
In this workshop you learn the basics of tablet weaving for creating bands and straps.
You learn how to warp the loom using tablets, understand turning sequences and pattern structure, and maintain even tension while weaving. During the sessions you work step by step towards a woven band or strap.
At the end of the workshop you take home a woven band or strap and a second warp prepared on the loom.

Workshop band weaving – inkle (fundamentals)
In this workshop you learn the basics of band weaving on an inkle loom.
You learn how to warp the loom using a continuous warping technique, read patterns and manage tension while weaving. During the sessions you work step by step towards a woven band or strap.
At the end of the workshop you take home a woven band or strap and a second warp prepared on the loom.

Workshop spinning – beginners (spinning wheel)
In this workshop you learn the basics of spinning on a spinning wheel.

Workshop spinning – beginners (hand spindle)
In this workshop you learn how to spin using a hand spindle.
You learn how to spin yarn with a drop spindle and get an introduction to different types of spindles. This is a simple way to start spinning.

Workshop weaving – tailored sessions (shaft loom)
In these workshops you learn the basics of weaving on a table loom, or further develop your skills through customised projects.
Sessions are tailored to the participant or small group, with a focus on materials, textures, colour and technique. Depending on your level and interests, you work on setting up the loom, weaving and finishing your own piece.
Suitable for beginners and participants with some experience.

Workshop shaft weaving – introduction
In this workshop you learn the basics of weaving on a 4-shaft table loom.
You set up the loom and learn how to weave with guidance and attention to detail. During the session you cover preparation, design, materials, calculations for warp and weft, loom setup and finishing techniques.
