Workshops

Come by for a relaxed evening of spinning, weaving and band weaving.

This is not a workshop, but an open evening where you can work on your own project and learn from each other. There is space to ask questions, exchange ideas and explore different techniques.

Suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced makers.

Practical:
– Bring your own project (for example a spinning wheel, spindle or loom)
– You can also try spinning wheels and materials from the showroom
– Registration is not required, but feel free to let us know via WhatsApp or email

In this workshop you learn how to spin flax.

You work with a historic flax braid and learn how to spin different fibre lengths, including long flax, medium flax and tow. You also learn how to prepare and use a distaff.

Suitable for participants with interest in traditional techniques.

During this one-day workshop, you will learn the basics of band weaving and weave your first decorative band. You will learn how to warp the loom, follow a simple pattern, combine colours and weave an even band.

No previous weaving experience is required. All equipment and materials are provided.

During this one-day workshop, you will learn the basics of spinning on a spinning wheel. You will learn how the wheel works, how to prepare and draft fibre, spin a single yarn and ply your singles into a balanced two-ply yarn.

No previous spinning experience is required. Spinning wheels, fibres and other materials are provided, or you can bring your own modern spinning wheel.

In this workshop you learn how to spin wool.

You start with a hand spindle as an introduction, then continue on a spinning wheel. You learn to spin, ply your yarn and take home your first handspun wool.

During this one-day workshop, you will learn the basics of rigid heddle weaving while making a Pima cotton scarf or cowl. You will learn how the loom works, how to choose suitable yarn, calculate and warp your project, weave and finish your piece.

No previous weaving experience is required. All equipment and materials are provided, and the workshop includes access to the Premiers Pas online course so you can revisit the techniques afterwards.

In this workshop you learn the basics of tablet weaving for creating bands and straps.

You learn how to warp the loom using tablets, understand turning sequences and pattern structure, and maintain even tension while weaving. During the sessions you work step by step towards a woven band or strap.

At the end of the workshop you take home a woven band or strap and a second warp prepared on the loom.

In this workshop you learn the basics of band weaving on an inkle loom.

You learn how to warp the loom using a continuous warping technique, read patterns and manage tension while weaving. During the sessions you work step by step towards a woven band or strap.

At the end of the workshop you take home a woven band or strap and a second warp prepared on the loom.

In this workshop you learn the basics of spinning on a spinning wheel.
