Spring is in the air, and our workshop is buzzing with activity. Time for a quick update from Lojan.
Inkeltje – small in size, big in possibilities
Meet Inkeltje: a mini inkle loom with more potential than you’d expect at first glance.
The name was inspired by “Pinkeltje” – a tiny character from a beloved Dutch children’s book – but don’t be fooled: this little loom is solid, smartly designed, and easily holds its own alongside its counterparts.
Thanks to the 9 cm long pegs made of solid beech (Ø18 mm), Inkeltje is surprisingly sturdy. The warp length is 1.15 or 1.80 meters (45 or 71″), and the removable top peg makes it perfectly suited for tablet weaving as well.
New: especially for Inkeltje, we’ve introduced tiny cards (5×5 cm, 2 x 2″)) – ideal for compact tablet weaving or small projects on the go.
The first Inkeltje looms will ship at the end of April.
Inkeltje inkle loom workshop
To celebrate Inkeltje’s arrival, we’re hosting a beginner inkle weaving workshop at our workshop in Raalte (NL) on Saturday, June 7.
You’ll learn how to set up and weave on an inkle loom, and if you catch on quickly, you can even try your first pick-up technique. Looms and materials are provided (or bring your own).
Time: 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Location: Lojan workshop, Spitsstraat 29, Raalte
Cost: €45 per person – includes coffee, tea and a treat

There is room for a maximum of 16 participants. Your registration is final upon receipt of payment.
The workshop will be taught by Marieke Kranenburg, with assistance from Loes. You will work on one of our Inkeltjes, or bring your own inkle loom.
Flex rigid heddle and shaft looms
The first series Flex rigid heddle looms has now been delivered, and we are in full swing with the second series. Accessories such as stands, extra reed segments and pick-up sticks are also available. And we are very happy that weaver Kelly Casanova contributed a new scarf pattern for our instruction manual, which can also be found on our website.
Meanwhile, we are finalizing the shaft version of Flex (4 and 8 shafts). The prototypes have been tested and we are fine-tuning the last design details. Early May we expect to have everything finalized, after which we will start production. Delivery is scheduled for the end of May / beginning of June. More information and pictures will follow soon.

New tablet weaving cards
In addition to our existing cards, two new variants are now available:
- Classic tablets (6.5 × 6.5 cm) – the familiar, handy size, now with a name
- Double-weave tablets (7 × 7 cm) – especially for techniques such as 4-color pebble weave or Icelandic double weave (see photo)
- Tiny tablets (5 × 5 cm) – ideal for tablet weaving on Inkeltje
All cards are sold per 10, are made of sturdy white cardboard 0.8 mm thick, and have rounded corners for pleasant use.
